The Craft of Acting and Acting as Truth:
Will begin Wednesday September 12th and be held every Wednesday from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at the Blue Hill Town Hall for nine weeks. (We will meet on Tuesday October 30th because Wednesday the 31st is Halloween.)
aaaaOur last class is November 7th but we will meet again on Friday November 30th when you will perform your favorite improvisations for the friends and family that you invite to the Town Hall. The cost of the class is $300.00 and some scholarships are available
.
aaaaOur acting classes are designed to teach the Craft of Acting as it pertains to Truthful Feelings and the awareness of how we look to others. An Actor’s job is to convey the feelings that the author wants the audience to feel. As the Irish director Joe Dowling says: "Theatre is about author, actor and audience."
aaaaAs you study you will learn to listen, to work attentively and respectfully with others and to be utterly truthful as you portray your feelings in improvisations that the other students will comment on.
You will learn the Craft of Acting that allows you to share these feelings with an audience. The teachings of Uta Hagen, Sanford Meisner, Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler and Stanislavski are discussed and used as each actor finds the way to their own truth and to the abilities that reside in their individual talent.
aaaaTeachers and students can receive 3 C.E.Us by taking this course.

Scene Study Class:
Will begin Friday September 14th and be held every Friday from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at the Blue Hill Town Hall for nine weeks. Our last class is November 9th and if there are enough scenes and the students are willing to do the production work, we will perform them at the Blue Hill Town Hall for the community or for friends and family on Saturday December 8th.
The cost of the class is $300.00.
s a Scene Study requires much time outside of class for each participant. The students in this class must have taken The Craft of Acting previously or have previous experience that satisfies Artisitic Director, Bill Raiten
Scene Study Students must sign up for class by September 1st so I will have time to pick a scene and a partner for them before the first class. (If two students wish to pick a scene for themselves they should contact me as soon as possible.) During the first class each cast of two actors will read their scene out loud. Each cast will be expected to meet as many times as possible on their own before the next class to work on the scene and memorize the script.
aaaaIn the second class, half of the number of scenes will perform and then be directed by Bill, in the third class the other half will perform and be directed. This will continue until each scene will have been directed four times and should be ready to perform for an audience. All of the students will be the audience during each class and will observe, question and comment about the scenes they see and what Bill has done with each scene. You should not take this class unless you are prepared to work during the week on your own, creating the best scene you possibly can to bring to each class.
aaaaTeachers and students can receive 3 C.E.Us by taking this course.
