After-School Theater Program
Beginning September 2017, NST is delighted to launch a new after-school theater program for ages 8-12. This class will meet Thursdays from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. from September 14 through December 7. Participants will study acting and will work together to create a performance piece, including constructing set and costumes. Tuition for the program is $150. Johannah Blackman, Program Director
Johannah grew up in the theater and ran a small theater group for homeschoolers and a summer theater camp during her teen years. Johannah holds a BA in Philosophy and a Masters in Counseling Psychology. After settling in Maine in her late twenties, Johannah stumbled upon New Surry Theatre and began performing in productions. Johannah has taken acting classes and studied directing with Bill Raiten and made her NST directorial debut with Dancing at Lughnasa. Johannah currently serves as NST's Assistant Artistic Director, directs Youth Theater Speak, and will become NST's new Producing Director in August 2017.
