Julian Chapman (Max):

Julian, who has worked with the New Surry Theatre and Acting School for the past six years, will be pursuing his interest in the arts at Bennington College this fall, after his graduation from George Stevens Academy this spring. He believes that a contributing factor for his receiving a full scholarship from Bennington, enabling his enrollment there, is his involvement with the New Surry Theatre. His application materials included a fourteen-minute video demo showing excerpts of on-stage performances including his roles of Rodolpho in Arthur Miller's View from the Bridge and Ronnie Shaughnessy in John Guare's House of Blue Leaves.

Julian, a resident of Brooksville, has played a dozen key roles in theatrical productions over the past six years. In addition to his acting, his interests include musical theatre, jazz drumming, baritone saxophone, photography, and singing. "My association with the New Surry Theatre under the artistic direction of Bill Raiten has been a source of continuing inspiration for me," he says.

Last summer, Julian was one of fifteen North American high school Juniors selected to participate in New York University's Tisch School of the Arts theatre workshop in Paris, France. This summer, he plays the role of Max in Lend Me a Tenor in the New Surry Theatre's ten performances of Ken Ludwig's comedy at the Blue Hill Town Hall.
