DINDY ROYSTER (Fonsia Dorsey) is the Secretary of the New Surry Theatre. She first appeared on stage in 1986 as a mama in Fiddler on the Roof at the Grand. Subsequent roles include Amanda in the Glass Managerie, Miss Clairee in Steel Magnolias, Martha in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Sister Mary Hubert in Nunsense, and Grandma Kurnitz in Lost in Yonkers. She would like to share this pearl of a quote from playwright John Guare in his introduction to The House of Blue Leaves: “Chekhov says we must never humiliate one another, and I think avoiding humiliation is the core of tragedy and comedy and probably of our lives.”
