As we close our 45th Season, we also honor the retirement of our founder and Artistic Director, Bill Raiten. Bill will continue to teach in the Performing Arts School and consult with directors, but he is retiring from directing himself and from his work as Artistic Director.

To honor Bill’s expressed desire to see that the theater continues long after he turns over the reins, New Surry Theatre has created a Legacy Fund. This fund will ensure that NST will be there for the whole team of actors and directors Bill has trained over the many years, as well as the hundreds of theater helpers and theater goers; and, most importantly, that the community will continue to benefit from the excellent theater that they have come to love.

This fund is distinct from our Annual Appeal, which supports our general operating costs and is vital to our existence. The Legacy Fund will serve as a reserve, to be used only in times of need and for special projects. As we all know, theater revenues are always volatile from year to year and this replenishable fund would help to carry us through.

Thanks to several generous supporters, we have raised over $26,000 in the past two months to help kickstart the fund. If you are interested in making a contribution in Bill's honor, please visit this secure PayPal link and note "Legacy Fund" where it says "Add special instructions to the seller". Alternately, you can send a donation to New Surry Theatre at PO Box 1597, Blue Hill, ME 04614.

Thank you for being a part of our legacy and our future.

Thank you to the Quimby Family Foundation, the Maine Community Foundation and Bar Harbor Bank & Trust for their generous support of our work.

Sponsor a show:

NST is proud to make our home in the historic Blue Hill Town Hall. Over the years, we have put time, thought and resources into improving the upstairs theater space. This space offers an intimate experience of live theater, with, at most, only 100 seats available. However, this limitation on capacity also means there is a limit on how much we can make through ticket sales without raising ticket prices. Consequently, we rely on sponsors to help us maintain the quality of production our audiences have come to expect and cherish. If you are interested in sponsoring an upcoming show, please email Johannah at johannah@newsurrytheatre.org for more information about sponsorship opportunities and the many benefits our sponsors receive. Thank you!

Thank you to Kindred Spirits Veterinary Hospital, The First National Bank,Tradewinds Markets, Ellsworth Family Veterinary Clinic, the Klofft Family and Bob & Jan Marville for their support of productions and projects in our 45th season.

Support a scholarship to the Performing Arts School, summer camp or Youth Theatre Speak:

Every semester of the Performing Arts School and each summer of the camp and Youth Theatre Speak, NST offers scholarships to ensure that no student is unable to attend our programs due to financial constraints. These scholarships are made possible through grants and generous donations. If you are interested in supporting our scholarship program, please contact Johannah at johannah@newsurrytheatre.org to find out more about giving the gift of theater to others. Thank you!
